Getting crafty with my cricut

On Christmas day, I was so delighted to receive a Cricut machine from my two favorite aunts. It was such a surprise; it brought tears to my eyes! The Cricut infomercials on television are SO convincing and make this look like a must have. Trust me, if you like crafts, you’ll love the Cricut.

As you probably have read in previous posts, I really enjoy crafts and make hand made cards. Typically, I use stamps, embossing powder and punches or die cut shapes to decorate my creations. This new machine takes my crafting to a new level.

Here’s my first preppy design that I made for a friend who recently had a little girl. She loves all things preppy, pink, and green, so I decided to use my favorite color combination for her gift. I love the shadowing of the letters and the detail on the stroller. Perfect for a new little Preppy Princess!

The machine uses different cartridges, think old school Nintendo-type cartridges, to create a wide variety of designs. Each cartridge has hundreds of possibilities. I used Alphalicious for the font and George, the cartridge that came with the machine, for the stroller. The size of the letters and shapes can be adjusted for such a variety of projects, from small note cards to large posters.

The uses for this are endless! I can see myself “helping” the Minnies with school projects, making posters and decorations for parties, designing cards, and so much more. I’ll post more projects as I create them and would love to hear about any ideas you have used with the Cricut. Do you have a Cricut at home? If so, what are some of your favorite cartridges? I want to start building my library of cartridges and need some suggestions.

As always, thanks for reading my blog and sharing with me.
