Calendar Chaos

Lots of things are on the calendar this week. As you already know, on Saturday, we changed time one hour ahead of schedule to "spring forward." Personally, I like to "fall back," but that's just me. On Saturday, the minnies went to the Abba show with one of their friends and her dear parents who accompanied the three little Dancing Queens at the show. We got home at around 11:30, 12:30 with the time change, which is way past their bedtime. Needless to say, they were exhausted all day on Sunday and actually asked to go to sleep around 7:30 p.m. Luckily they were refreshed and ready to go this morning.

Here's an interesting article I found that explains the history of daylight savings time. It's interesting to note that not all states or regions observe this time change.

Today is the Ides of March, the day Julius Ceasar was assassinated. If you ever wondered how the expression, "Beware the Ides of March," originated, it came from the play Julius Ceasar.

Caesar:
Who is it in the press that calls on me?
I hear a tongue shriller than all the music
Cry "Caesar!" Speak, Caesar is turn'd to hear.

Soothsayer:
Beware the ides of March.

Caesar:
What man is that?

Brutus:
A soothsayer bids you beware the ides of March.
Julius Caesar Act 1, scene 2, 15–19

Of course, we all know that St. Patrick's Day is on Wednesday. Be sure to read tomorrow's post with some pinch-proof fashion ideas for St. Patrick's Day.

Did the time change affect you or anyone you know? Do you prefer to fall back or spring forward?

Hope that everyone is off to a great start to a great week!

xoxo

  8. Although I love the extra hour of sunshine, it takes me days to get over that "springing forward"!

Today was so great and sunny. The boys played outside much longer than before. The television is not tempting them... life is too good!
