Lilly summer sneak peek shhhhh!

Although I've only been wearing my new resort and spring Lilly for about a week, I'm already looking ahead for hints of the new summer line.

Janie from Lilly Pulitzer gave a hint about Summer 2010 on the Lilly Pulitzer blog after her trip to France. It's all about markets and buying local. I'm all set for the Farmer's market with my Market Tote in Creme Fraiche.

The minnies are getting their tote in Queen of Green for Easter and I was thrilled to learn that there will be other fun items available in this green print. There will be a minnies' shift, perfect for a science fair project presentation or other fun event. Earth Day anyone? Bags, shorts, and other items are also part of the summer collection in this cute print.

I had the unique opportunity to preview Summer 2010 at a trunk show and wanted to share some of my favorites with you. Every time a new collection is unveiled, I am amazed at the creativity, attention to detail, and sheer brilliance of it! Summer 2010 is no exception. Forgive my lack of pictures, but due to the sensitive nature of the secrets I'm about to reveal to you, I do not have pictures at this time. The good news is that the first Summer 2010 delivery will arrive in stores in early April; I think April 10th is the first delivery, so you don't have to wait for a long time. I hope that my descriptions will do justice to the lovely items.

My go-to dress for summer would be a delightful tank dress that is so easy to wear. The print is a blue and white nautical toile that is simply divine. The top half of the dress is a white stretchy, high-tech t-shirt type material with tank sleeves. The waist is cinched with a rope belt with gold embellishments at the ends. The bottom half is the blue and white toile and hits above the knee. So comfortable and so cool. This was sized alphabetically: small, medium, large, etc. This would work late into the season too when paired with a blue cardigan on cool breezy nights. It's the perfect dress to walk along the beach or to wear to a clam bake. I have so many visions in my mind for this dress.

On the other side of the spectrum, the Sandra dress is HOT. No one can deny that. This is the perfect dress to wear to a party, a night on the town, or whenever you want to make a splash. You'll love this one shouldered dress with three large ruffles. The ruffles are not as dynamic and fluffy as the Amber dress from a few years ago, but are more layered and long. The look is stunning as the ruffles continue up the shoulder. Sandra is short, but not scandalous in length. It's probably too short for church, in my humble opinion, but is perfect for a party. It comes in different colors although my favorite is the big and bold "Hotty Pink I Dahlia" print. You know what Lilly says, you should "Wear pink and make the boys wink!" This dress fits true to size.

Another fantastic dress is the Arden. Arden is a strapless dress with multiple rows of ruffles covering the dress from bodice to hem. Think Socialite Carmen Miranda without the stomach exposure. The "white off the hook" print is gorgeous with muted shades of blue and green fish. There is a bit of silver in the material too, which I really like, especially after a few seasons of primarily gold embellished prints and dresses. This will look great with silver McKims.

The Skinny McKim is a thong sandal like the McKim we all know and love, except that the bands are skinnier. With a price point of $88 and a cute pouch to accompany your shoes, I predict that these will be a big seller. I think that these will be available in silver and gold.

Since I tried on samples, the items may change slightly when they actually arrive in stores. Sometimes the details, print or style names, or options vary with the final product. This only makes things better because they have been more refined. I'll keep you updated about Summer as it begins to hit the floors. My goal is to do the scout work of the best looking and best fitting styles so that you can easily order by phone or internet.

xoxo
