Loving Mini-Vacations

Mini-vacations should come with doctor's orders for anyone who is busy, stressed, or otherwise caught up in the whirlwind of life. My time in San Luis Potosi, Mexico has been beyond words fabulous and just what I needed. The hotel is gorgeous and the sights are surreal. So many things to share with you!

Here's a quick peek...

This tower is an example of how ornate the work on the cathedrals is. This is made out of cantera, a type of stone found in this region. The stone has a natural pink tone to it. The cantera in Oaxaca, Mexico, where I used to live, was green!

My tour guide was absolutely fantastic and is a wealth of knowledge. I'm getting to the point where I can identify which order founded the cathedral by looking at the statues of the saints.

This is called the "caja de agua," or water box, because it was a central location where water was brought from the mountains to the city through a series of aqueducts. It's kind of like an old water tower.

Today I visited the Hacienda where the Legend of Zorro was filmed! Tomorrow is the big day and I'll have lots and lots of stories, pictures, and posts to share with you when I return.

I had to try on my dress today to see if it still fits because I've been enjoying the delicious food quite a bit here despite drinking lots and lots of Coca-Cola Light.
