Tomato Festival

Here's an exciting event for readers in the Maryland/DC/Virginia area. When good food and fun come together, it's a fabulous thing! At the Tomato Festival, from the Big White Barn Produce, attendees will have the opportunity to watch award winning chef Bryan Voltaggio as he uses different varieties of tomatoes to create tempting treats.

Here's some information about the event as taken from Big White Barn Produce's website:

Spend a relaxing afternoon in the country, sample over 40 varieties of heirloom tomatoes, wines from top VA & MD wineries, cheese, olive oil imported from Greece and other delicious gourmet items. This event will feature the best restaurants & celebrated chefs from Maryland, DC, and VA. Meet the chefs, play croquet & horseshoes, bring a blanket & stay awhile. This is a child friendly event and will include hay rides, farm tours, music, baby goats for petting and much, much more!

Admission includes all restaurant tomato creations & vendor samples, a huge variety of heirloom tomato samples, wine & cheese tastings, hay rides, and farm tours.

Tickets are limited. Buy early - this event will sell out.

My dear friend, Anita, gave me some additional details about the event. Volt will participate with many other local restaurants including Nick's Airport Inn, Cafe Nora, Cafe Nola, and Firestone's. St. Michael's and Elk Run are two of the wineries who will be offer samples of their wine at the event. Guests may also purchase a bottle of wine to enjoy at the farm.

Seriously, I do expect that this event will sell out quickly. Last week, Bryan Voltaggio bobbleheads were distributed to the first 1,000 people in line at the Frederick Keys baseball game in less than 30 minutes! So many people were there! Maybe Voltaggio will make the Heirloom Tomato Gazpacho "dipping dots" at this festival. Rumor has it that they were a favorite at the baseball game.

What a fantastic festival to wind down the summer! You can buy your tickets here. Who would like to join me at this fun event? Let me know if you plan to attend; I'd love to see you there! Big White Barn Produce is generously going to sponsor a ticket giveaway in the next week for my blog readers. Watch for more details.

xoxo

  1. Ooo sounds fun! I'm pretty sure I need to win this giveaway because this unemployed gal (one contract is NOT paying the bills) really shouldn't go otherwise. :P

But will def have to put it on my calendar for future years. Sounds just like my kind of shindig!
