A Week to Mature Years

Today I'm taking the minnies to another week of sleepaway camp. Whoever invented summer camp is a genius. To be honest, I was a little bit nervous about sending the girls to camp last month for a week by themselves. Although I didn't expect to get a call in the middle of the night because someone was homesick, I did wonder if their clothes would be organized, if they would brush their hair and their teeth, and if they would be able to budget their money at the camp store. At the end of the week, I was delighted to find two happy girls who seemed worlds older and more mature after their week away from home. After only one week, they seem much more self sufficient and helpful. Earlier this week, Natalia told me not to worry about unloading the dishwasher because she "could handle it!" And they really liked camp, especially when they saw a snake and found frogs in the pool!

So when the opportunity for another week of camp presented itself, I jumped at the opportunity.

My little girls are becoming young ladies.

xoxo

P.S. Of course, I'm waaaaaaaaaaaay beyond my camping years and will be enjoying my week at home! Isn't this picture from Anne Taintor too cute?

  1. Is it wrong that I'm slightly jealous of your minnies? I used to go to sleepaway camp every summer when I was little for 4-8 weeks and those were some of the funnest experiences of my life. I definitely miss sleepaway camp a lot.

  3. I'm jealous three! I SOOOO miss my days at camp. I had the absolute best time there. 8weeks spent sailing year after year... it was just too fun.

Can't believe your minnies are growing up so much though! Offering to do the dishwasher -- that's impressive!

    XoXo!
