It was not an easy road with the girls because they were preemies and required a lot of extra care. Both were under 5 pounds at birth. Natalia had not yet developed a sucking reflex when she was born and I had to feed her with a syringe. Every ounce of milk was a small victory. Alexia had severe acid reflux and spent the first year or so of her life in and out of pediatric gastroenterologists’ offices. I worried about them eating, gaining enough weight, being on par with developmental milestones, and was a pretty sleep deprived Mommy for the first few months. More times than I want to count, I went to check on them in the middle of the night to make sure they were breathing.
My girls were born in August and by Mother’s Day, they were thriving! It was a day to celebrate! Unlike the United States, where Mother’s Day is celebrated on a Sunday, Mother’s Day in Mexico is always celebrated on May 10, even if it is mid-week. My first Mother’s Day was such an important milestone for me. My life had changed in so many beautiful ways that I could not have imagined only a year ago. The twins were growing and thriving and life was good! They are the best gift I have ever received and I am thankful for them every day.

Tiny Prints offers Mother’s Day greeting cards for all sorts of moms – mom friends, moms, mothers-in-law…
I just recently ordered the invitation for the girls' First Communion from Tiny Prints and am so impressed with the quality of the printing, design, and paper.
It's hard to believe that almost 10 years have passed since my little princesses were born. It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating their baptism, and now they are prepared for their First Communion.
This year will be another fabulous Mother's Day!
What is your best Mother's Day memory?
xoxo
