Anchor the Nautical Look

Although I’m partial to navy and stripes all year long, I particularly enjoy the nautical look during the warm summer months. The dark navy shade looks so amazing beside crisp white pants.  Casual chic.  Whether you’re on the water, at the beach, or in the city, the nautical look is always a classic that is gorgeous in any situation.

Depending on how you mix and match your stripes, solids, and prints, the nautical look is appropriate for men, women, and children. Rope and gold tone details further embellish even the most simple t-shirt and make it special.

There’s no need to stick with all navy and white to achieve a fabulous look.  Add a pop of pink for color or blend with shades of beige, ecru, or yellow.  The trick is to look comfortable with a look that appears effortlessly chic…you don’t want to look overdone or contrived.

Nautical themes are also a perfect choice for summer parties, weddings, and home d├ęcor.

Nautical inspired clothing is quintessentially preppy and has been and will be in vogue for decades.  Some of the most iconic personalities shine in nautical apparel.

  1. Great post today! Navy & white stripes and gray & white strips are definitely my go-to in the summer. The color combinations are so classic that you don't even need to think about it - true effortless summer style! (And I just love that photo of Jack & Jackie!)

  2. I love stripes year around, but there is just something about them in the summer! My favorite is to pair my navy and white striped shirt with fun colored shorts and my white pants!

  3. I totally agree - navy blue and white look amazing together :) Stripes seem to be especially popular this summer. Every time I walk into a clothing store, I see a lot of striped dresses, pants, shorts, etc.!

  4. Love these images!! I adore the nautical look, always reminds me of the summer and like you, navy and stripes are always in circulation in my wardrobe all year long!
