Follow the Yellow Brick Road

Want to buy a little piece of history? You’ll need deep pockets to buy a pair of Judy Garland’s ruby slippers from a California auction this December. The shoes are in mint condition and are expected to fetch a price of about 2 million dollars. These shoes are believed to be one of four pairs still surviving from the classic movie, The Wizard of Oz.

The soles of these shoes are painted red, just like some other ruby slippers from Christian Louboutin I recently found online at Neiman Marcus.

So look at it this way...if one pair of ruby slippers is going for a few million, Louboutins start to look like a real bargain.

As for me, I'll have to make do with frequent visits to the National Museum of American History to see the ruby slippers behind the glass.

What famous movie prop or wardrobe item would you love to own?

  1. I don't know if I would really love to own them, but the dresses from Gone With The Wind are beautiful!

  2. The Ruby Slippers have always been top of my list! I LOVE the Wizard of Oz and always have! I'd kill to own those shoes! And at that going rate it's probably the only way I'd be able to get them!

  3. @Sarah ~ You're right about GWTW. I especially love the green party dress Scarlett wears with a matching hat.

@Erin ~ I hear you on that. The Ruby Slippers are so cool. I really like everything about the Wizard of Oz. It reminds me of my childhood.
