Gift the Grapes

If you’re looking for a unique variation on the standard bottle of wine for a hostess gift, consider a wine with a unique or whimsical name. When I saw Cupcake Vineyards Red Velvet, I knew that I wanted to try it. The name, label, and blue bottle are gorgeous. There's even a cupcake on the top of the bottle. The entire presentation is simply delightful.

But what about the contents inside the bottle? Here's what the winemaker has to say about Red Velvet. "“Our first blended red wine for Cupcake Vineyards has over the top aromas of chocolate, deep rich blackberries, red fruits that follow through the palate to a creamy mocha finish that is unmistakable in its intensity and length, with a hint of coconut. It’s reminiscent of a blackberry chocolate cupcake with a mocha coulis.”  I think you’ll agree that the chocolate flavor is not overpowering at all and the wine is good.  I'm hardly an expert on wine, but it tasted good to me!

Another wine that I am eager to try is the Popped Collar Pinot from Preppy Vines.  Their website sums it up quite nicely with this statement. "At Preppy Vines, we believe in plaid, popped collars, men who wear pink, pearls, loafers without socks, martinis at lunch, Cape Cod, seersucker suits, garden parties, sundresses, martinis at 5, croquet, whale pants, and--above all else--being nice." How perfect is that! Now the search is on for this fun wine. I'll try it and will report back to you.

Have you tried Cupcake Vineyards' Red Velvet or Preppy Vines' Popped Collar Pinot? What did you think?

  1. Did you know that Cupcake has a prosecco? Cupcakes and bubbly? I think life can get no more perfect than that!

  2. I've been dying to try to Preppy Vines wines. Though I think it's mostly because I love their label and their motto.
I've always been a fan of Cupcake Vineyards, though I have yet to see the Red Velvet wine. I'm going to have to make a run to the store to see if I can find it! Can't wait to try it. Thanks for the tip! xo, LP
