Break from the Routine

via

When I first started Maryland Pink and Green, I wanted a space to write about my life and experiences. Although the focus of the blog was not clear at the time, I knew that I wanted to document some of my experiences from Mexico and that I wanted to talk about my life with twins. Beyond that, Maryland Pink and Green was a fun distraction and a personal outlet for my likes, dislikes, and feelings.

It was so exciting when people “found” my blog. It opened a new world for me and I truly value my blogging friendships.

But life beyond the blog does exist and lately I feel like I’m in a whirlwind. I need to take a little break from every day blogging. Even the shortest blog post takes time to research, write, and share. I often wonder if people are reading or what they like about each post and wonder if I need to refocus. On the other hand, if the blog is truly what I meant for it to be, a place for me to share, should I really consider what others want to read? The answer now is yes. I feel a connection with many of my readers and want to share the best with all of you.

For at least the next few weeks, I won’t have enough time to share the best. I think it’s better to post less frequently, posting only the most interesting and relevant content.

There is something else on my mind, too. There is the dreaded inevitable moment for every blogger. Negative comments. I have quite a tough skin, but negative comments do sting, no matter how silly they are. So many things matter much more than a bully who is hiding behind the veil of the internet, but it is discouraging to me.

After a lot of thought, I’ve decided to slow things down a bit. I’m not going to disappear; I just need to shift some of my priorities for the moment.

Thank you for reading, for sharing your world with me and letting me share a little bit of my world with you.

  1. You need to listen to your heart. If it is telling you to slow down- do it. Life is way to short to be stressed. Enjoy the little things in life with the girls because they grow up way too fast. I will look forward to your future posts. XO

  3. I have read your blog for quite some time now. I think you are one nifty gal! I don't understand negativity in this arena...it is so simple, don't read if you don't like it! I am glad you aren't going to disappear, but understand there is A LOT to do as a teacher and mother!!!!

  8. I have pondered from time to time how you are able to balance your career, raising a family, etc etc while still sharing with your readers so often (and the answer is you are superwoman!) I'll miss your daily posts, but entirely understand the need for the break. We'll be here when you are ready, with encouraging words!

As you know as a busy working mom, you have to guard your time so carefully. I've had to cut out other things, but your blog has always been a worthwhile and positive read.
