When I first started Maryland Pink and Green, I wanted a space to write about my life and experiences. Although the focus of the blog was not clear at the time, I knew that I wanted to document some of my experiences from Mexico and that I wanted to talk about my life with twins. Beyond that, Maryland Pink and Green was a fun distraction and a personal outlet for my likes, dislikes, and feelings.
It was so exciting when people “found” my blog. It opened a new world for me and I truly value my blogging friendships.
But life beyond the blog does exist and lately I feel like I’m in a whirlwind. I need to take a little break from every day blogging. Even the shortest blog post takes time to research, write, and share. I often wonder if people are reading or what they like about each post and wonder if I need to refocus. On the other hand, if the blog is truly what I meant for it to be, a place for me to share, should I really consider what others want to read? The answer now is yes. I feel a connection with many of my readers and want to share the best with all of you.
For at least the next few weeks, I won’t have enough time to share the best. I think it’s better to post less frequently, posting only the most interesting and relevant content.
There is something else on my mind, too. There is the dreaded inevitable moment for every blogger. Negative comments. I have quite a tough skin, but negative comments do sting, no matter how silly they are. So many things matter much more than a bully who is hiding behind the veil of the internet, but it is discouraging to me.
After a lot of thought, I’ve decided to slow things down a bit. I’m not going to disappear; I just need to shift some of my priorities for the moment.
Thank you for reading, for sharing your world with me and letting me share a little bit of my world with you.
