I packed a picnic for us to enjoy before the concert and fireworks and wanted to share the most delicious and easy sangria recipe with you. Originally, I had intended for the sangria to be red, white, and blue with the strawberries, white wine, and blueberries. But after a few hours in the fridge, the sangria turned a pretty shade of pink. It's pretty, don't you think? It was so delicious and sweet, yet light enough for a hot and humid night.
Here's what you'll need to make the Red, White, and Blue Sangria
- A bottle of white wine. I chose Williamsburg Winery's Governor's White. It's delicious on it's own and is incredibly reasonable in price at only $7 a bottle.
- Lemon Italian Soda. For this, I used frizzante from Wegmans. You'll only need about 1/3 of the bottle.
- Sliced strawberries and blueberries.
To prepare, mix the bottle of wine with the fruit and allow the flavors to blend for a few hours. Add 1/3 of the bottle of Italian Soda just before serving.
It's delicious!
The fireworks display was among the most spectacular I have ever seen. Here is a video of the fireworks while the orchestra performs Stars and Stripes Forever!
