Gifting Girls from Toddlers to Tweens

Minnies of all ages eagerly anticipate holiday gifts under the tree!  Are you shopping for a little girl between the toddler and tween ages?  Today I'm sharing my favorite preppy, traditional gifts for girls in this wide age range.  Even though this is a huge jump between ages, you'll find many of the gifts to be appropriate for multiple ages.

For the most part, I prefer to give gifts that are creativity sparking, kid-powered toys not requiring any technology, batteries, or gadgets.  As a bonus, hearing the squeals and giggles of little girls playing is a million times better than the electronic sound of a toy with all of the whistles and bells.  Foster creativity and play with kid-powered, old school toys.  Of course, anything that sparkles is always in style!

Disclaimer!  So you might ask why I include Just Dance 4 in a low-tech list?  Dancing and music have always been popular.  I know that some of my best presents involved dancing or music.  It's just that things have evolved.

Shopping List
American Girl Bored No More Quiz Book.  All of American Girl's books are fantastic for girls ages 6 and up.  With everything from quiz books to historical novels, there's something for every interest.  This would be a great book for a long car or plane ride to Grandma's house.

Chocolate Fix by Think Fun.  Girls of all ages will appreciate this exciting and challenging logic game.  The pieces are so pretty, but this game means business.  The game differentiates difficulty levels so it's a challenge for every age.  Some of the most difficult puzzles engage curious adults.

Doll Party Pillow from Red Envelope.  Available for 20% off with the code REDSHOP20.  A pillow that is a toy!  What a perfect solution for reluctant nappers.  Play with pretty dolls quietly for some rest.  Your budding fashionista will play with this often, creating endless possibilities.

Duct Tape Party by Alex Toys at Nordstrom.  Free shipping and free returns.  My minnies decorate everything from binders to bulletin boards with duct tape.  With everything she'll need for a duct tape party, this kit will be a hit with your favorite tween.

Ice Cream Cone Chalkboard  Little artists will love decorating, coloring, and writing on this oversized ice cream cone chalkboard.  It peels off and will not damage walls once she decides to re-decorate her room in a few years.

J Crew Girls' Glitter Tote Bag.  25% off today at J. Crew.  If I could put this on my holiday wish list and get away with it, I would.  Alexia loves to stop by J. Crew to see this bag.  Anything with sparkle is always a winner for girls of all ages!  Whether they put crayons or lip gloss in this bag, they're sure to reach for it every day.

Just Dance 4 from Amazon.  On sale for 25% off and free Prime shipping.  With oodles of new songs and dance moves, this is probably one of the most popular toys this year.  It's a fun activity on a cold, rainy winter day.  Everyone joins the dancing fun at my house!

Melissa and Doug Fashion Design Activity Kit  Oh Fashion Plates, how I loved you!  I used to spend hours making designs with my old school Fashion Plates.  After years of looking for a modern substitute, I found this fashion design activity kit for your favorite budding fashionista.

Penelope Peapod Doll and Basket in Palm Beach print.  When the minnies were little, they used to carry these adorable dolls with them everywhere!  The doll fits in the basket that has a drawstring to pull closed and carry as a little bag.  Pure genius.  You'll always make a good choice with the pretty pink and green print, too!

Prince Lionheart Wheely Bug Pig ride on toy.  Ride-on toys are so much fun!  The adorable pink pig comes in two sizes and is perfect for little girls 18 months and older up to 50 pounds.

What are you getting for your favorite little girls this year?
