Friday Favorites

No more saggy boots! I love an organized closet and am constantly looking for tricks to preserve my clothing, shoes, and bags. Boot Standz help your boots maintain their shape and prevent them from falling down or slouching in your closet. The pretty polka dot print is an added bonus. Boots really are investment pieces for me, so it’s important to keep them in good condition. This year I added a pair of Frye boots to my collection and LOVE them.

I’m a huge fan of every holiday and tend to go a little bit wild with holiday décor and planning, so this week’s favorites include a dose of fall fun.

When I was a little girl, I used to beg my mother to buy Count Chocula. This fun chocolate flavored cereal is only available for a limited period of time around Halloween. When I spied this at the store recently, I had to pick up a box to share a new tradition with my girls. I don’t know how I have missed it before now.

Little paper coasters are a fun and elegant touch to an adult Halloween party. Who says that Halloween is just for the kids? I love the clever sayings “Eat, Drink and Be Scary” and “Ghostess with the Mostess.” At only $1 a pack, they’re cute little gifts for friends, too!

Music makes me happy. We recently bought a new car, well, really, it’s a van, but that’s another story. My “old” SUV was a 2011 and seemed completely modern and up to date to me. But the technology in the 2014 van is beyond words amazing. I can listen to Pandora Radio all the time through my phone when I’m driving and let me tell you; I love it. The girls and I especially enjoy the Family Halloween Radio Station. With old standards like Thriller, Monster Mash, Ghostbusters, it’s a winner. Of course, I love the occasional 80s throwback like Abracadabra, too!

This year, we’re hosting Thanksgiving at our house for a crowd of 20 people. I’m being creative with my use of the oven and burners by researching some crock pot recipes. Right now, I cook with a programmable crock pot several times a week. I make dinner before I leave for work in the morning and arrive to a house that smells delicious. I can only imagine how delicious the house will smell on Thanksgiving with multiple crock pots in action. Don’t you think that I need a black damask crock pot to add to my menagerie? At only $17 and free shipping with Amazon Prime, it’s a great idea.

  1. Using slow cookers for Thanksgiving SAVED me last year! I made the mashed potatoes the night before, and warmed them up on Thanksgiving with my biggest slow cooker.
