Saturday Musings: DAR Meeting + Valentines Shopping

Happy Saturday! I hope that wherever you are you're staying nice and warm today. Although it's not as cold as it has been, I'm still in a permanent "freezing" mode until spring. Today I have a busy day planned. This morning, I attended my DAR chapter's monthly breakfast meeting. The company was lovely and I spent some time with my mother and aunt who are also members of the chapter. I also learned so much from the informative guest speaker, who shared her knowledge about historic dress and 17th, 18th, and 19th century textiles. So fascinating.

On another note, I'm starting to look for little Valentines Day surprises. Usually I don't spend a lot of money on Valentines Day gifts for my daughters and friends, so I am tickled when I find reasonably priced gifts that are unique and special. Here are four of my favorites that I want to share with you.

A heart shaped book is a delightful decorative piece that looks chic on any bookshelf or side table. I plan to display one of these on the bar cart in the dining room. The wrap heart bracelet is durable enough to wear every day all year long and is sure to be appreciated by the lucky recipient. All of Alex & Ani's bracelets look great worn in a stack.

The "Party in a Jar" is a sweet and whimsical gift that will surprise anyone on your Valentines Day list. The red bow clutch is a perfect way to top off a date night outfit or little black dress. Carry it as a clutch or wear it on your shoulder.

The best part of all is that these 4 gifts are all priced under $50!

For DAR meeetings, members usually wear a dress or suit. Today I decided to show my American pride in a navy and red printed scarf dress and comfortable flats.

What are your plans for this Saturday?
