Yesterday, I had a DAR meeting in the morning. At the meeting, our chapter welcomed a Blue Star Mother whose son gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country - his life. Her son died while serving in Afghanistan from injuries that he received in a suicide bombing attack on his unit. Her poignant story about her son's service and sacrifice is an inspiration to everyone. She continues to give back to veterans, students, and other members of the community through a memorial fund in honor of her son. This brave mother's choice to turn a tragedy into something that yields goodness honors her son every day and helps to keep his memory alive.
Since it was Valentine's Day, I chose to wear a pink Lilly Pulitzer lace dress. The temperature put quite a chill in the air, but a wool coat and fleece lined tights kept me warm.
Lace is instantly feminine, instantly classic. Lace has really come a long way in the past few years, with an incredibly versatile array of colors, styles, and textures available. Lace is an excellent way to transition from day to night seamlessly. For an ultra-feminine and flirty look, choose a lace dress like one of these. I especially like the pink Kate Spade dress. Wouldn't it make a beautiful choice for Easter?
Add feminine flair to blouses, tops, and tees with lace. It is rare that I absolutely must have a blouse the instant that I see it, but the Pina Lace Top is one that you won't want to miss. This sheer lace top is playful and fun and looks great paired with jeans or skirts. You'll need to wear a camisole under the shirt. I ended up getting a size 6 in this because my arms felt better in the larger of the two sizes that I tried. The shirt is flattering and I promise that you'll receive dozens of compliments on this top every time you wear it.
Lilly Pulitzer always has beautiful lace tops, dresses, and skirts. My favorite pick for this spring is the Iona Sleeveless Floral Lace Shell. I love the two tone lace look and the back buttons are so elegant.
