“What do you mean that you don’t have a blog?”
Recently the girls and I were talking and I mentioned how
much I missed blogging. With a surprised tone, the girls asked why I had not
been blogging. I reminded them that THEY asked me to delete Maryland Pink and
Green in September.
As you may know, Natalia and Alexia started high school this
year. Although they both looked forward to this new adventure, at the same
time, they were a tiny bit apprehensive about being in a new, larger school.
During the first week of school, they overheard a sophomore male student
mentioning that I wrote Maryland Pink and Green. He remarked that he planned to
look at all of the posts. His words distressed the girls so much!
Natalia and Alexia worried that people would see pictures of them from
what they called the “awkward phase.” No matter how much I assured them that to
me, they have always been and always will be kind, beautiful, and intelligent
ladies, the opinions of others concerned them.
So respecting the girls’ wishes, I temporarily hid my blog. The
abrupt change led many readers to reach out to me. I truly appreciated your
emails and notes and am thrilled to be publishing new blog posts.
Since September and the beginning of the school year, the
girls see things in a new light. I burst with pride over how well they adjusted
to high school. Both girls are very much involved with school activities like
Poms and Student Government. Outside of school, Natalia and Alexia continue to
serve the community in a variety of volunteer activities and actively
participate in youth leadership at church.
The girls feel happy, safe, and secure. I snapped this picture before their first performance at a home football game.
Fall brought a whirlwind of activity including a lot of time
spent with family and friends. The girls celebrated their confirmation this
year. I enjoyed the luncheon that I organized after the church service. My
cousin, Kristen, and many other family members attended this very special
event.
Over the next several weeks, I'll update you with all of the good things that have happened this year along with new fashion, DIY, and lifestyle posts.
Thank you for reading! Please comment; I'd love to hear from you!
