I first saw The Bouqs featured on Shark Tank. I loved the eco-friendly concept of the company and the fresh cut flowers. I sent a bouquet to my mother who loved the surprise. She remarked that the flowers lasted for almost 2 weeks and that they smelled delightful. I highly recommend the service for excellent quality and price.

Lightning Trip

Lightning Trip...One of the things that I love the most about speaking other languages is knowing words or phrases that don't quite translate exactly to English. Sometimes, a word in another language is just what I need to adequately express the situation or my sentiments. In Spanish, a viaje-relámpago refers to a quick, but usually fun and event filled trip.

Last weekend the girls and I took a lightning trip to New York City and we enjoyed every minute of our short weekend trip. We boarded a bus early Friday morning for a relatively quick ride to the city. In one weekend, we saw three Broadway shows, ate like champions, and saw the most iconic spots in the city.

We stayed at the Marriott Marquis, located in the heart of Times Square. The spacious hotel rooms offered plenty of space and a spectacular view of Times Square. For the entire weekend, we walked everywhere! No need for taxis or other public transportation at all.

Rockefeller Center holds a special place in my heart, so I knew that we had to visit. Natalia and Alexia wanted to view the city from the Top of the Rock. Since I knew that it tends to get crowded in the afternoon, we went there fairly early in the morning and didn't find any lines at all.

From all four sides, the observation deck offers an incredible view of the city.

The girls captioned this selfie "Twins Take Manhattan."

We ducked into the Lindt chocolate store for a quick boost of sugar before walking the short distance to the Museum of Modern Art.

I love to see famous works of arts that I studied or that are familiar to me. The extensive collection at the MoMA boasts some true gems of the art world. Starry Night is among my favorites. Natalia helped me find this fun Snapchat filter for the picture. We listened to the audio tour on our phones and loved the interesting interpretations of the paintings.

Stay tuned for more fun details from our trip including some amazing food recommendations and mini reviews of the three shows that we saw.

Pineapple Picks

Throughout the South, pineapples are a sign of hospitality. I love the pineapple motif for home decor, clothing, and accessories and rarely resist a unique interpretation of a pineapple.

In New York City this past weekend, Natalia spotted a pineapple printed fanny pack at Urban Outfitters. She bought it instantly because she serves on the Hospitality Committee for a church youth organization. Next month, she plans to wear the fanny pack as she welcomes middle school students to a weekend retreat. It's the perfect accessory for the occasion.

I curated a collection of perfect pineapple picks for you to enjoy!

Kid in a Candy Store: NYC Garment District

From a block's distance, I spotted the attractive ribbon inspired banner on the side of the building. I knew that I had to discover the treasures in M & J Trimming. Even though I'm not a seamstress nor an aspiring designer, I felt like a kid in a candy store in this Garment District store.

The large store boasts a truly dizzying myriad of beads, lace, ribbon, and trim in all colors and styles. A bridal salon in the back of the store offers some of the most exquisite trim I have ever seen for a wedding dress. They even sell bases to make fascinators...I'm thinking Kentucky Derby!

The Greek Key trim reminded Alexia of one of my Tory Burch tunics. Buy as little or as much as you would like. Although my purchase totaled less than $10, employees cheerfully helped me to select the perfect ribbon.

There's grosgrain ribbon galore. I also loved the preppy designs on the webbing for D-ring belts.

Bling anything with Swarovski crystals in all colors and sizes. Inspiration is everywhere at this store, with examples of completed products prominently displayed.

Visiting Tips:
M & J Trimming is located at 1008 Sixth Avenue between 37th and 38th Streets in New York City. It's a relatively easy walk from Times Square or Rockefeller Center. Be prepared to spend a bit of time at the store because there is so much to see!

Lilly Pulitzer New Arrivals

It's officially spring here in Maryland. Yesterday I defrosted my car in the morning, using just a bit of windshield washer fluid on the glass. Today, temperatures will top 70 degrees.

With the hope of spring closer every day, I continue to drool over new arrivals from my favorite brands. Lilly Pulitzer rocks some amazing prints in the latest delivery, many of which remind me of old school Lilly prints from years ago.

Hibiscus Stroll looks like a colorful walk through Palm Beach. I love the vibrant floral print. The Raegan dress flatters any figure with a full skirt and fitted bodice. It fits true to size with a church appropriate length.

Another fantastic print for spring is Flamenco. With pink and green pineapples splashed on tunics, dresses, and accessories, who wouldn't want this print? I'm a huge fan of the Amelia Island Tunic. The tunic is long enough to cover my indulgences, but not too long that it swallows my petite frame. A size small is perfect for me.

It's a wild ride with So A Peeling, a print featuring elephants, monkeys, and bananas. I plan to pick an Elsa top in this print.

Vacations + Paloma + Graduation Freebie

In the next few weeks, I'll be traveling quite a bit. Right now, I'm in New York with Natalia and Alexia to see a few plays. Later this month, we're off to Mexico to soak up the warm sun. Traveling makes me happy. As much as I love to shop, travel brings me so much joy. I treasure the experiences and memories from all of our adventures.

No matter where I go, it always seems like a bring more things home than I took with me at the beginning of the trip. Sometimes I'll bring a folding duffel bag along in my suitcase for extra goodies that I find, but I often worry about packing fragile items in a soft sided bag. We've all seen how bags are handled at the airport, and it's not pretty. Luckily I found the perfect solution. Vera Bradley has a full sized, sturdy suitcase that folds flat for storage. Look at this amazing large foldable roller luggage.

In honor of my trip to Mexico, I present you with the easiest recipe for the most delicious cocktail. Many people shy away from tequila, but this delightful and refreshing little cocktail might change your mind. La Paloma means dove in Spanish. I'm not sure how the name originated, but I know that this drink is wildly popular at parties and weddings in Mexico. Simply mix a shot of tequila with Fresca in a salt-rimmed highball glass. I especially like these pink highball glasses.

Graduation expenses quickly add up for parents and students. Between photos, clothing, parties, and more, things easily reach a large number. Right now Tiny Prints, one of my favorite stationery sources, offers 10 free graduation announcements or invitations. I love the variety of designs. Enter the code GRAD10FREE for the promo.

Go Green

Don your St. Patrick's Day green in style this year. St. Patrick's Day tradition dictates that people who don't wear green on this holiday will be pinched. The tradition originated in part from the belief that leprechauns do not see green. Think of it as nature's green screen.

Irish immigrants continued the tradition by wearing green clothing along with shamrocks and ribbons.

Bold is better on St. Patrick's Day, and the more green you're wearing, the better!

 Here's a little inspiration for March 17.

Rent the Runway Success

With spring just around the corner, every weekend on your calendar includes some kind of special event. It's high season for weddings and parties! I find it difficult to squeeze in shopping trips for so many special occasions and dread repeating dresses that I have already worn. Even if it is a new group of people who will attend the event, there's probably evidence of the old dress on a Facebook album somewhere.

Enter Rent the Runway, the perfect solution for busy party goers. Choose from an incredible array of dresses from designers you know and love including Lilly Pulitzer, Kate Spade, Milly, and more! Dress rentals for 4 days start at only $30. In fact, I rented this particular dress for only $29 during a Leap Day special.

I searched for dresses by occasion, body type, and age and narrowed the selection to this amazing dress by Trina Turk. Although Rent the Runway offers a dress in a back up size, my size was out of stock for the date of my event. After carefully reading reader reviews, I decided that I didn't need a second size selection.

The dress arrived as promised and it fit like a glove.

As a special bonus, use this link to join Rent the Runway and get $20 off your first order.

Have you rented a dress? I'd love to hear about your experience.
